Parish Support of Vocations
Introducing our dream..............
Building Parish Vocations Ministry Teams
Building Parish Vocation Ministry Teams could share a common mission with the Diocesan Vocations Office of raising vocation awareness by educating and encouraging people to consider God's call on their life.
The mission of a vocation team could be to help weave vocations into all aspects of parish life.
Each of us are called to use their gifts and talents to serve God through worship and action.
Having a special purpose in life—a calling, a vocation—is a gift from God that comes with our birth and our Baptism. It’s a privilege—and it’s well worth our time and effort to discover and prepare for our vocation in life. As parents we strive to connect our children to Gods calling in their lives as they grow and develop.
As parishioners we are called to proclaim the Good News to others. That is part of every Christian vocation. We are called by God to a high purpose. Understanding and living this, small teams within our parishes could be part of an effort to build a stronger culture of vocations within our dioceses and support one another in hearing that call.
Called North is focused on priestly vocations - below are some ideas to get things started:
Vocations Area
Establish a vocations corner, so that parishioners can find relevant literature if they are interested in vocations in the Church.
Prayer Network
Organize a parish prayer network, provide prayer cards or CDs with vocation prayers. Include the DOS vocations intercessions sent out each month through the Chancery bulletin or join the existing monthly email listserv for groups supporting intercessions.
Support/ Share upcoming Events
Help spread the word of events /opportunities for discerners. Encourage parishioners to share the news and prayer during those times of discernment where our DOS Priestly Vocations Team and other groups are reaching out to young men who may be interested in the priesthood or young women considering religious life.
